The camera will also apparently be able to recognise facial expression and gestures, incorporating laser, radar, light-detection and ranging sensors for detecting depth.

Apple said the technology could be introduced to ‘digital cameras, personal computers, personal digital assistants, mobile telephones, a standalone camera’.

The Apple patent adds: ‘A user may take video of a home while walking through the home and the image sensing device could use the calculated depth and surface detail information to create a three-dimensional model of the home.

‘The depth and surface detail information of multiple photographs or video stills may then be matched to construct a seamless composite three-dimensional model that combines the surface detail and depth from each of the photos or video.’

According to rumours, Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 on the last day of a week-long conference from June 11 through June 15, which is suspected to be the 2012 WWDC, Apple’s traditional developers expo.

Besides 4G LTE, which was rumored ahead of the iPhone 4S, this is the latest such mention of Apple working on a miniaturized dock connector to help make extra room in its portable devices. A report from Japanese Apple-centric blog Macotakara in October claimed as much, with iMore adding to those claims last month, saying the smaller ports were headed to the iPhone and iPad so that Apple could make more room in those devices for other components.

The 30-pin adapter, which Apple uses on iPods, iPhones, and iPads, was originally designed to help make iPods thinner; Apple began with full-sized Firewire ports, later switching to USB exclusively. It’s since become the standard for third-party docks and accessories.

Ahead of the iPhone 4S unveiling last October, the slew of rumors about the device took on a life of their own, due in no small part to the extended wait between models and the growing importance of the iPhone to Apple’s business. Some of the big ones included mention of a complete redesign, the likes of what Apple did between the iPhone 3G/3GS and the iPhone 4, as well as the chance of multiple new models, and tweaks to longtime features like the screen size and home button.

Re-design
We should also expect the newly designed iPhone 5 to have a bigger screen 4 – inch ( as already mentioned in previous posts ), along with a flash processor as well..Apple’s recent purchase of Anobit virtually assures this.
The enhanced flash memory will allow the new iPhone 5 to operates more smoothly, increasing memory space and improving battery life, which was the main problem of previous models of the iPhone, but especially iPhone 4S.

Also according to Business Insider, the new iPhone will feature a rubbery material on the back that will connect the iPhone’s aluminum backing to the front bezel. Think of it as a built in “bumper” like the ones Apple sells now for the iPhone 4 and 4S.

New OS
The iPhone 5 should feature the iOS 5.1, which is in the beta phase at the moment. Anyway, if there is plenty of time to release date there could be an improved OS for the new iPhone.So there is big chance for iOS 6 to be born.

NTT DOCOMO releases iPad 3 in the summer 2012 of next year and releases new iPhone 5 by autumn 2012 ( October ).

The Wall Street Journal reported mid-November that negotiations with carriers in Asia came to a standstill because Apple was requiring iPhone sellers to commit to too large a volume. Additionally, NTT DoCoMo wanted to control what software goes on users’ iPhones, a concession Apple was unwilling to make.

Apple doesn’t have a prior distribution agreement with NTT DoCoMo. Instead, the Cupertino, California designer of gadgets partnered with local carrier Softbank to sell the handset to customers in Japan. Beginning with iPhone 4S, Softbank’s exclusivity ended as Apple cut an agreement with au/KDDI. As you know, 9to5Mac yesterday discovered evidence pointing to a next-generation iPhone and iPad in the code of iOS 5.1 Beta, which was seeded to developers on Monday.

An iPhone 5,1 reference is of particular interest as it indicates a major iPhone update likely involving Apple’s A6 chip, designed in-house and believed to sport four ARM Cortex A15 processing cores and an unknown graphics core. An iPad 2,4 reference, which we also discovered in iOS 5.1 Beta code, implies a carrier variation, which could mean anything from a 4G LTE version to a GSM+CDMA dual-mode device to a Sprint iPad 2 or something completely new. In a somewhat related iPhone news, carrier China Unicom is said to be awaiting the final paperwork to begin selling iPhone 4S in China. The country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently finished testing the device, it passed the necessary wireless regulatory tests and is now certified for public consumption.

China, the 1.33 billion people market, recently overtook the United States to become the world’s leading market for smartphones. Accounting for twelve percent of Apple’s fiscal 2011 revenue, or about 15 billion dollars, China is becoming one of Apple’s key growth regions.

iOS 5.0.1 can be downloaded through iTunes or as the first of the promised over-the-air updates.

Along the battery life bug fix, iOS 5.0.1 also adds new multi-touch gestures for the first generation of iPad. Documents in the iCloud bugs has been resolved as well and Australian iPhone users (who’s voice commands couldn’t be recognized by Siri ) can be also satisfied as the voice recognition command was improved.

TechCrunch reports - “It looks like Siri is experiencing an extended outage, according to several tipsters, tweets, and our own internal tests.” The site notes that the feature is a Beta product — but such a highly touted feature that an extended outage is reason to sit up and take notice.

VentureBeat reports –  Siri is no simple tool: “When you ask Siri what the weather is like in Nashville, Tenn., it plays an elaborate game of telephone with a main database that has the information, and then updates you with the answer.”

TechNewsWorld  reports -”one of the minor fixes users have found success with is turning off the feature that automatically adjusts to new time zone.” The theory is that the iOS 5 GPS feature is constantly trying to fix on the time zone that the user is in, thus sucking battery life.

“Corrupted contact data” may be at the root of the problem, says VentureBeat: “Clearing the contacts data and re-uploading it has fixed the battery drain problem” for some.

In my opinion, iPhone 4S was released to catch all of the bugs to clear the road for “perfectly working” , we all still waiting for.

According to Digitimes, Apple and other smartphone manufacturers like Nokia, Research in Motion and Sony Ericsson should the LTE ( Long Term Evolution ) next year.
In USA, Verizon is offering LTE, Sprint is going to switch from WiMax to LTE until 2013 and AT&T is already running its own.

This year announcement of iPhone 4S disappointed iPhone’s fans even if it came with 8 megapixels camera and upgraded processor ( from single-core CPU to dual-core A5 CPU ), so we all are wondering, what the new iPhone 5, or whatever it will be named, is going to bring us…A6 processor, larger screen, above mentioned LTE?

Anyway, in my opinion it’s just a “name”, which disappointed us,…even if the specs of the new iPhone 4S are fully the same as iPhone 4′s ones, and it’s just named “iPhone 5″ not “iPhone 4S”, we all are happy.

With this voice recognition control you will not need to type, swipe or tap on you touch screen. Talking to the robotic assistant is all you need to do…like to ask to send a text message, even to write the message from your words, check the weather, make notes find the closest restaurant and many other tasks.

Allthough Siri is still a Beta version, we all are pretty impressed so far. You can speak to here naturally, all of the tasks are are performed fast and all aswers are provided correctly.(at her best).
What impressed me the most is that Siri can even raise her IQ by learning and adapting to her user.

The voice-recognition software doesn’t fully function outside the United States so far. And Siri couldn’t respond you if you speak in your native language.
Sooner or later, Apple will update this great software for sure.

Also we have to keep it in mind that Siri was not developed to have skills like : decision making or high reasoning for instance.

In fact, we have to say, the Siri was kind of Apple’s attraction of iPhone 4S and how is technology quickly moving forward. Anyway, after first 4 millions units sold, the madness has gone down and users came back to touch screen using.
